We’ve all been there: you enter a corner slightly too fast, your heart rate spikes, your muscles tense up, and you find yourself staring straight at the outside guardrail.
In the world of high-performance riding, these are called Survival Reactions (SRs). They are natural human instincts, but on a motorcycle, they are usually the wrong thing to do. At Superbike School Jordan, we don’t just train your hands and feet; we train your brain.
The “$10.00” Rule of Attention
Think of your brain as having only $10.00 worth of attention to spend at any given time.
- If you spend $9.00 worrying about the bike sliding, you only have $1.00 left to look for your exit.
- Our goal is to automate your technical skills so they cost “pennies,” leaving your full attention free to scan the track and plan your next move.
Breaking the Cycle of Panic
When panic sets in, the body naturally wants to chop the throttle and grab the brakes. This upsets the bike’s geometry and makes a crash more likely. Through our structured drills, we teach you to:
- Relax the Pivot: Keep your arms loose so the bike can self-correct.
- Fix Your Vision: Learn to look “wide” to slow the world down.
- Trust the Physics: Understand that the bike is designed to stay upright if you stop fighting it.
From “Scary” to “Calculated”
The difference between a “scary” ride and a “fast” ride is predictability. By understanding the mental triggers that cause tension, you can stay calm, stay focused, and—most importantly—stay fast.
Training with us gives you the mental toolkit to handle the unexpected, whether you’re chasing a lap record or navigating a surprise rain shower on the highway.
